Infrastructure and Facilities:

1. What is the role of Educomp in Takshila schools?

Educomp serves as a pedagogy partner to Takshila Schools. Besides providing full academic and curriculum support, it provides teacher training, administrative, IT and management support, and helps in formulation of relevant policies and processes. In short, Educomp is our partner in ensuring efficient and effective governance of the school.

2. What safety measures are taken in your schools to ensure the safety of the children?

The safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us. Fire drill is conducted regularly in the school. Other safety measures with regard to use of school transport, etc are implemented strictly to ensure the safety of our children.

3. Do you provide security in the school bus?

Each bus has an experienced driver and a conductor, for complete safety and security of the children. Also, each bus has been assigned to a teacher, who has overall responsibility of the children present in her / his bus.

4. How is the hygiene level maintained in the school?

We strictly believe that a neat and clean environment is a requirement for a healthy mental and physical growth. Not only that, it inculcates a habit in children which helps them to develop a healthy respect for their surroundings. To ensure cleanliness and hygiene of the institution, these services are outsourced under strict supervision. Children are also provided with safe drinking water.

5. What are the medical facilities available in the school?

We have a well equipped infirmary with an in-house nurse or attendant in-charge to provide first aid and emergency facilities to students and staff in the school. We also have a tie-up with a local hospital for emergencies.

6. What sports facilities do you have in your schools?

The Principal of each school ensures that sports and co-curricular activities are introduced based on the age-group of the children. For us, every child is unique and it shall be our endeavor to help her/him maximise her/his potential and be an all-rounder.

7. Which are the areas/ locations /neighbourhoods that are covered by your buses?

We welcome all students. However, the school transport is available upto a radius of 15-32 km of the school neighbourhood. (The bus route map is available with the Transport Officer)

Admission and Fees

8. When does the Admission process begin in Takshila Schools?

The process starts from the month of November and carries on till the end of March.

9. Do you have any discount/concession on tuition fees?

Yes. We do give special fee discounts from time to time. Please check from the school about any available concessions.

10. What is your policy of interschool transfer?

Each Takshila school is an individual institution. Transfer will be allowed post-confirmation of availability of seat by the Head of Institution of the recipient school. However, preferential admission will be given to a Takshila student subject to availability of seats. Fees, as per the recipient school, will be applicable. No admission fee shall be charged by the recipient Takshila school.

11. Does the fee cover transport and uniform cost as well?

Uniforms and books would be charged on actual. Transport is optional and has to be paid for additionally.

12. What does Development Charges mean?

Development charges are for up-gradation and future additions which we propose to make in the existing facility to give value addition to the education being imparted to your child.

13. What does Annual Charges comprise of?

All school’s operational, examination and lab expenses.

14. What is the mode of payment for the fee-- Cheque or Cash?

You could pay either by cheque or Demand-Draft or Pay Order. Cash payment for fee is not accepted.

15. Can we pay Admission Fee in EMIs?

Right now, the facility does not exist. However, you are welcome to pay the whole year's fees in advance, for which a discount of 5% will be offered.

16. Can we pay online or to Bank directly?

The payment can be made within the school or can be deposited in the bank. Online facility is not yet available.

17. Is there any re-admission fee after completing KG at Takshila?

We do not charge any re-admission fee for in-school promotions.

18. How often will you revise your fees?

A nominal fee increase is done annually based on management reviews, cost escalation in establishment and other day-to-day expenditures.

19. Where can the books be bought from?

The books are given to the children in the school.

20. Where are your teachers from? Are they well-qualified?

Our teachers are selected locally. They are well-qualified and scientifically-trained to impart quality, value-based education.

21. Is spoken English encouraged in the school?

All our teachers are well-versed in English. The medium of instruction is English and everyone is encouraged to speak in English, both in the classroom & outside.

22. Does the school cater to children with special needs?

Yes, the school will cater to children with special needs based on the availability of in-house expertise. The school is open for children with ADHD, hearing impairment, visual impairment and physical impairments.

23. What is special about Takshila school?

24. What kind of curriculum do you follow?

  • 1. We have a specially designed curriculum mapped to the requirement of National Curriculum Framework 2005 and the NCERT Syllabus.
  • 2. The curriculum follows an E-DAC learning system which is unique and has been developed by the R&D team of Educomp after 80 man years of research. The curriculum is founded on international principles of the way children learn, their learning styles and their developmental milestones.
  • 3. The goal of our curriculum is to equip learners with the 21st century skills and open minds, and to break the boundaries that confine learning.
  • 4. The curriculum caters to the needs of all types of learners, allowing them to learn at their own pace.

25. How do you take care of children with special needs?

Our curriculum allows inclusion. We train our teachers to handle the learning needs of special children through unique teaching strategies. We also provide guidance to parents for successful and effective learning, and overall growth of the child.

26. How do you assess the children?

We have a continuous and comprehensive, skill-based evaluation in place (the child is observed, guided & evaluated on a day-to-day basis), where both cognitive and non-cognitive aspects of the child are graded, evaluated & enhanced.
A detailed record of every child's progress is maintained which will later help us to provide gifted student's programmes and remedial learner programs as and when required.

27. What is the pattern of conducting exams?

  • We are a CBSE school and follow the CCE pattern for a comprehensive and complete evaluation of the child.
  • Our school has a built-in system for conducting Formative Assessments on a daily basis. There are regular skill wise assessments for learning (FA) and periodic assessments of learning (SA). These help children to compete with themselves and help the teachers work on the diagnostics and enrichment steps to ensure that all the learning gaps are taken care of at the right time.

28. How is the curriculum integrated?

Within each subject area, course content is connected topic to topic, concept to concept, one year's work to the next, and relates ideas explicitly. Each concept has a project related to real life.

29. Will you be affiliated to any other board also like IB, IGCSE, etc?

We are open to foreign affiliations, subject to demands and local needs.

30. What are the various activities that you have in your school?

Children learn better through their experiences and learning by doing are critical to the way we teach at Takshila. Our curriculum comprises several specially designed activities that help children learn in a way that is long lasting and exciting. The activities cover the following aspects :

  • Cognitive Domain: Each chapter of every subject in every class has activities to help learners understand concepts. These are designed for deeper understanding.
  • Physical Activities/ Sports: As per the school's resources
  • Activities for Emotional and Social Skills: Yoga, Theatre, Creative Arts, Talent Development, Community Kitchen Program etc.

31. Why don’t students have notebooks or get any homework?

  • Subject-appropriate written work is provided in each class. The nature and volume of this work is completely based on the developmental milestones of that age-group.
  • Each topic has enough writing prescribed in the concept book with extra blank sheets provided at the end of each chapter for additional work/ correction work/ revision. In classes 6 and 7 apart from the concept book, there is an additional workbook with sufficient writing space.
  • All classes from class 8 onwards are provided with notebooks for written work.
  • It is believed that time at home is to be utilized in revising the work done at school and spending quality time with parents and siblings. Some amount of simple work is provided for the readiness of the next day’s work in school.

32. How is your school different from all other schools?

The learning methodology is unique and involves each and every learner in the classroom. It steps out of rote-learning. Learning in made enjoyable and effective with unique concept-based games for every topic.

  • Facilitators are provided with extensive training by experts in the field of education on curriculum understanding, pedagogy and soft skills.
  • Ensures better outcomes in all domains, such as academic, life skills, soft skills, etc.
  • The school caters to every type of learner. The learning system strongly believes that there is no ‘weak or strong student’; there are only weak or strong skills that need to be diagnosed and worked on. It teaches each child the way to learn, using all the senses.
  • Since learners learn differently at various stages, the curriculum and philosophy is changed accordingly as they grow. There is more focus laid on skill development at all stages.
  • Values are embedded in the content so that the learners absorb them effortlessly.

33. How often are the Parent Teacher Meetings held?

The PTMs are planned in the beginning of every session and are regularly conducted throughout the academic year. The schedule is provided in the school almanac for the parents reference. Apart from that the parents are free to meet the teachers and/or the principal with prior appointment. (Preferably between 2:30 to 4:30 PM)

34. Do parents have a role in the Takshila School?

Parents have an important role to play for the success of any system. We would like them to collaborate with us by volunteering to help impart skills that they have to our children. We would also want the parents to play an active part in the Parent Teacher Meet that is held every month.

Further, they can help by enthusiastically encouraging the quest for knowledge when their children seek information, material or guidance for their projects.
